In June of 2026, Habtom Samuel became a five-time NCAA champion, the most national titles ever won by an individual athlete in UNM history.

According to KRQE News 13 "His latest accomplishment further cements his place among the greatest athletes the Lobos have ever produced. Simply put: the GOAT conversation may be over."
