BLA, Fall 2015
Clinical Education Program Coordinator, UNM Division of Physical Therapy
I am a staff as student at UNM and am currently 1 1Ž2 semesters away from earning my BLA with a concentration in Communication and Network Information Systems (graduating December 2015). I work at the UNM School of Medicine, Division of Physical Therapy, both as a Clinical Education Program Coordinator and as our division IT tech. I received my Associates in Computer Network Administration from my local community college in Wenatchee, WA in June of 2000, and had always dreamed of returning to school to get my Bachelor’s. Once I started working at UNM in 2011 and learned of the education benefits my employment could provide to me, I decided to take full advantage of the opportunity. It has been a struggle trying to juggle a full-time job, 3Ž4 time school and a family at home – but it has been very rewarding, as well. I love my degree because I have been able to take my past IT education and apply it to the field of communication, a field which is flourishing with a multitude of electronic communication and information. I have also been able to take some IT classes through Anderson to get me back up to speed on the state of current technology and what is in the works for the near future. I have been able to apply all of my past and current learning into my current position and feel that I am finally in the right place at the right time in my professional life. I encourage anyone who is looking at a degree program at UNM to investigate the Liberal Arts Program to see how your life fits into a curriculum that you help to design.
