Shared Credit Programs
2+1+2 DEFINEDThis partnership with CNM and UNM, provides an unexpected pathway to your graduate degree. With the 2+1+2 Program, you can transition from an associate degree, through a Bachelor Arts in Liberal Arts degree and into a graduate program in as little as five years. The 2+1+2 Program strategically utilizes established academic program at two of New Mexico's finest highest education institutions and helps students navigate them in a fastest and more affordable way.
HOW IT WORKS
EARN AN ASSOCIATE DEGREE AT CNM
Apply to and attend Central New Mexico Community College. Pursue an associate degree of your choice in any discipline. We encourage students to complete their UNM General Education requirements while at CNM if possible. Associate degrees typically take two years to complete which is why reflected in the first "2" of the 2+1+2 Program name.
EARN A BACHELOR OF ARTS IN LIBERAL ARTS DEGREE AT UNM
Apply to and attend The University of New Mexico. List your intended major as Liberal Arts. This is a customized undergraduate degree program that allows you to select focus areas across multiple academic subjects. Students will spend one year designated exclusively to Liberal Arts courses which is reflected by the "1" in the 2+1+2 Program name. EARN YOUR GRADUATE DEGREE AT UNM
Apply to and attend The University of New Mexico's Anderson School of Management to earn your Master of Business Administration (MBA), or the School of Public Administration to earn your Master of Public Administration (MPA). As long as all admission requirements are met, you are guaranteed a spot in these graduate programs. Admission requirements can be found at mgt.unm.edu for the MBA Program and spa.unm.edu for the MPA Program. The first year of the final "2" in the 2+1+2 Program will include shared credit courses that will count for both the BALA degree and the MBA or MPA degree. The last year in the final "2" will be used to complete either the MBA or MPA degree.
Many students spend 4-6 years on their undergraduate studies alone. Dual credit is applicable and can make the program even faster!
